Farmers Institute Held Amid Snowstorm Attendance Dips
The Farmers Institute in this city drew strong turnout on the first two days but attendance waned Saturday due to a Friday night snowstorm. Speakers from Ames and Des Moines discussed silos, hog cholera, horticulture, and rural resources with demonstrations, readings, and music. Officials elected for next year and the program highlighted poultry, dairying, and farm modernization events. A royal slave promotion at the Opera House March 14th was announced.

Whittemore Lad Dies After Shotgun Wound
Whittemore lad Earl Schitt, severely wounded when a playmate accidentally discharged a shotgun, died at his Whittemore home last Thursday after three operations in which part of his leg was amputated. Doctors had hoped to save him.
