Mrs Sarah Graft celebrated her 100th birthday on February 18 in MechAnicaville. Born in Kentucky in 1853 she spent most of her life in Stanwood Iowa where she built her long life of memories and family ties.
In Lyon County two male deer locked antlers during a fight. One died before discovery. Conservation officer Richard Jacobson and others roped the live deer and sawed off the dead deer's antler to free the survivor, ending the peril.
