Swine Meeting Advances Hog Rearing Practices in February
Over 100 farmers attended the swine meeting at Weat Bend School on Monday afternoon February 6. DeWitt Shelton and B. L. Quaife led discussions on swine raising feeding and management with tips on gilt age, grain mixes, and protein requirements. Also covered were copperas and blue vitrol for anemia and worm treatments, plus advice on pasture versus dry lot feeding and molasses-like supplements. Alcohol added to gasoline advised to combat moisture, per Dall Hall via R. W. Ashby. The event split into groups focusing on air cleaner maintenance with a follow up training set for February 16.
