Graettinger fans look to a last home game this Friday evening featuring two strong teams. A large crowd is expected as local interest remains high, with coach Mil and family planning a move to Graettinger soon after the sale of an estate valued at about $4,000.
The Cattiolle Ladies' Aid to host a Friday card party at Woodman hall starting at eight p.m. Refreshments and a public invitation are noted. Also, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Truesdell celebrate a golden wedding anniversary with neighbors gifting flowers and a reading lamp. Reeves defeats Halberg in Bancroft wrestling. Humoresque shown at Hawkeye theatre. Henry Hansen buys Thoresen house. Market Day sale planned in Gractinger with auctions and local bargains.
Graettinger high school defeated Superior 64 to 6 on the local gym floor Friday night. Superior played without their big center, hurting efforts with back passes and short forwards. First half ended 4 to 2, last half 30 to 4. Two fouls per side and Graettinger clean play noted. Also reported: wedding of Christensen and Bonstead held Tuesday evening in Graettinger with ritual and dinner. couple to reside in Algona, Iowa. Christensen an oil inspector for the State of Iowa. Bonstead daughter of Mr and Mrs O G Bonstead. Married by Rev S C Sande.
Friday night Graettinger lost to Goldfield 24 to 22 on Goldfield’s floor in a peculiarly paced game. Graettinger led 13 to 11 at halftime, then Goldfield surged with four field goals in the opening minutes of the second half as Graettinger added a basket and a foul shot. Goldfield finished with five free throws to seal the victory.
Eighth grade girls beat freshman girls 16 to 12 in a hard fought game at the high school. Clara Thompson starred for the eighth grade, a clever forward and sharp shooter. Graettinger plans tournaments in Mallard Spirit Lake and Morningside, with both girls and boys invited to compete in Northwestern Iowa events.
Monday Chris Hansen purchased the Reid poultry egg and cream business in the city. Hansen's son took charge of the operation this week. He will operate his current station on East Robbing Avenue in addition to the Reid establishment and may consolidate later. Hansen is experienced and expected to gain strong patronage.
Grodland and Hepp note only one February date remains available, specifically Monday February 27, for bookings or events. The statement highlights a single remaining slot and names the providers.
Mrs. Curie J. Skow of this city died after illness, this morning at one o'clock. The funeral will be Saturday at one o'clock at the residence, then to South Walnut church for interment in South Walnut cemetery. Obituary notice to appear next week.
