A 7 year old girl from Lost Island township died at Colman hospital in Estherville after an operation for mastoids. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Rathven Methodist church with interment in Rathven, as her family and friends mourn the bright, promising child.
The funeral for Chris Hansen was held Friday at the Danish Lutheran church with one o clock services and a large attendance from old friends and neighbors. Hansen, born May 26 1866 in Denmark, lived in Boone and Palo Alto counties before moving to Settinger, with a long farming career and substantial property. He married Mary Jensen in 1888, then Lena Hansen in 1924, leaving five sons and two daughters. his widow survives along with children including Mrs Hansen Andersen of Minnesota and Mrs Nels chimmit of Ruthven. The notice notes the event continues on page four.

John Osterhus, Chelsea owner of the Chev rolet garage in Ruthven, was struck on the head and robbed of about 400 dollars Tuesday night. He staggered home, regained consciousness briefly Wednesday, and survived without a fractured skull. Osterhus, a longtime local mayor, believes local assailants staged the attack, and he defended himself during the offense.
The Wisconsin Lumber Company marks its fiftieth year in 1931 since 1881 founding by Charles A. Finkbine. Manager C. E. Norris notes a golden jubilee with year long sales and goodwill offerings. Des Moines trip updates merchandise, while prices are cited as the lowest in a decade. The paper congratulates Norris and the company on reaching this milestone and urges continued prosperity.

Local radio enthusiasts including Harry Roblin Curtis Kluger Viggo Christensen and others enjoy winter hobby assembling short wave receivers linked to standard sets. They monitor signals under 108 kilocycles with vivid examples such as Viggo Christiansen tracing Minneapolis police headquarters messages to patrol cars and Curtis Kluger tracking a Chicago to Cheyenne mainplane with Chicago pilots giving commands.

The American Legion Auxiliary led the drive.
Graettinger Co-Operative Live Stock Shipping association holds its annual meeting on Saturday February 14 at Woodman hall. A noon free lunch, business session at 1 pm, secretary’s report, officer elections, talks by Sam Thompson and Webster Emmetburg, plus a social evening. Members urged to attend and bring a prospective member.
Victory on the Emmetsburg gym floor as G H S defeats Ruthven 26 to 21. Large crowds from Graettinger and Ruthven watched a close county tournament game. Graettinger meets Cylinder in the opening round Friday at 7 pm, following last night's win.

Superior town council passes ordinance requiring a 100 dollar license fee from anyone conducting a public dance within the city limits. The new rule applies to all organizers and venues hosting dances in Superior.
