Jens C Jensen of Ruthven an honored Palo Alto county pioneer died last Saturday after illness A funeral was held Wednesday in Ruthven with Gruettinger relatives present Obituary outlines Jens Christian Jensen born December 6 1847 in Lutland Denmark died February 1 1930 in Ruthven Iowa He served in the Punish army before emigrating to America He later worked ten years in Hamburg shipyards and married Christine Clausen in 1871 They had four children three surviving Christian N of Wargo N D Johannes L of Hollywood California and Anna Huske of Cherokee Iowa He remarried in 1850 to Marans Hansen who died in 1897 Five more children were born Henry II among them One son died in infancy Continued on Page Wight.

Cameron Hatchery Adds 15000 Egg Capacity

Sneak Thief Steals $70 From Duhn Pool Hall

A week ago Wednesday night the A J Duhn billiard hall was burgled. About $70 in cash stored in a secret drawer and several cartons of cigarettes were taken. The unlocked cash register held about twenty dollars untouched. Local officers, led by Chief Fleming and Sheriff Shes, suspect a known party and an arrest may come soon.

Victor Henningsen Graduates From Iowa University

Victor Henningsen son of Mr and Mrs Chris Henningsen of Graettinger graduated from Iowa University Tuesday evening. He completed the four year course in three and a half years and will remain for a year to pursue a Master’s Degree. His brother A H Henningsen attended the exercises as Graettinger pride grows in his strong academic record.

Thompsen and OConnor Married in Emmetsburg

George Thompsen son of G C Thompsen and Lois OConnor daughter of Leo OConnor were united in marriage Thursday January 30 at Assumption church Emmetsburg. Rev Walher Murtard officiated. Charles Berger, longtime Emmetsburg merchant, died at his home on Thursday after a period of ill health. He was known for his mercantile business and was well liked by those who knew him and did business with him. He was 64 years old.

White Eagle Truck Accident Claims One Life Near Graettinger

A White Eagle gasoline truck overturned on State road south of Graettinger Monday night killing John Daily, 28, Emmetsburg. Francis McNally, 22, severely injured, and Leo McDonald, 20, escaped with minor injuries as the cab safety failed and the truck slid along the road. The crash occurred while en route to a dance, with McNally driving and Daily pinned under the cab. McDonald aided by Dr. McManus, and Sheriff Shea and Coroner Hennessy investigated. The wreck drew hundreds to the scene. repair costs are expected to be high.
