Married Monday in Catholic Church Unites Weir and Smith

Francis Weir and Mary Smith were married Monday morning at nine in the Catholic church. Rev Father Kelly performed the ceremony in the presence of relatives and friends. The bride wore white serge and Miss Rose Wilson attended. John Smith served as best man. A reception and wedding dinner followed at the groom’s parents home. The couple will begin housekeeping on the D C Tipp farm. The Times extends best wishes.

Farewell Party for Mr and Mrs I L Holland

Friends in Graettinger held a surprise farewell at the Holland home on Holland Heights with about forty guests. Mrs Franklin presented two leather bound poetry volumes. The couple, residents for nearly seven years, were honored with cards, dancing, games, music, and refreshments as they depart the area. It notes Mr Holland's sound business judgement and the community's loss.

High School Program Delights Hawkeye Audience

A Friday program at Hawkeye School featured music by an orchestra readings by Alela Cuthbert Marie Christianson Lorene Sheffield Florence Birkland and Henry Larsen with a humorous acting turn and a plantation song sequence by High School boys in blackface. The farce Two Ghosts in White closed the show and the event netted over 38 dollars for a school piano.

Mrs Holland’s Move Dims Local Social Light

The community praises Mrs. Holland for warmth and hospitality, noting her upcoming move to a new home in Newhall Iowa with her husband and four daughters. They will leave around late March. Also reported is a sale by Biner Malland on February 8 near Rodman, with plans to quit farming and relocate.
