More than a dozen people visited Berkley Bedell’s Mobile Office in Graettinger on Monday afternoon with issues spanning military and social security concerns, rail subsidies, and government paperwork. Pettengill urged Graettinger school upgrades including new facilities and a potential attendance center amid reorganization plans. Frank and Maxine Jacobsens will leave Graettinger employment to run City Meat Market. Amie Masters reflects long community involvement and plans to close the current store when the new one opens.
Mrs James Spies of Graettinger will lead the Iowa Lakes Community College Music Scholarship Association annual fund drive. At the January 26 meeting, Dale Cummins was elected president, Mrs John Powers and Mrs Roger Harms were named VP and secretary. The drive funds scholarships for area students to study music at ILCC, with past giving over 2500 yearly for 20 to 30 students. Donors are urged to contact the Department of Fine Arts. benefits include tickets to a March 30 spring jazz concert.
