Graettinger celebrated the opening of the new Hawkeye Opera House last Tuesday led by Paul Stillman. The day featured a dinner, speeches by D. E. Kulp and Mr Stillman, and a performance by the Suwanos River Male Quartet followed by the comedy drama The Mesa Ranger Roy. The project rests on stockholders raised by local businessmen Harrison Mitchell and George, with construction by Luverne Brick Co and Ecker and Son. The 40 by 80 foot brick building seats 500 and features a nickel light, stage, and painted scenery, marking a community milestone and calling for public support for future entertainments.
In a future week, Mr and Mrs O O Paterson will take possession of the Munning restaurant. J A Fleming traded his restaurant business for O O Peterson's 63 acre farm at 125 dollars per acre. The Petersens plan to run the restaurant after their February 17 sale. Paterson is an experienced baker with twenty three years in the trade. A laguer item notes Knut Johnson’s appearance changing next week.
