Mrs John Andersen 87 Dies in Ruthven After Long illness
Mrs. John Andersen 87 died Friday morning at the home of her daughter Mrs. Peter Miller in Ruthven. Funeral services led by Rev. James P. Christensen were held at St Pauls Lutheran in South Walnut township. Interment was in South Walnut cemetery beside her husband, who died in 1918. Born in Denmark April 27, 1845 she came to America, married John Andersen in 1878, lived on farms near Kimbalton and in Last Island township, retired in 1911, and spent years with the Miller family. Survived by ten children, many grandchildren, and friends who mourn her loss.

Sister of Mrs Norris Loses Sister in Alberta Explosion
Mrs C E Norris of Sioux City received word that her sister Mrs Leonard was burned to death in an explosion at her Arrowhead Alberta home. The Sioux City Journal reported nineteen year old Ralph Tueonard saved his father and three girls, carried his mother outside, then helped others escape. The family slept upstairs as kerosene-soaked flames spread through the kitchen. The youth alerted and aided his sister Marjorie and friend Mary Mitchell, breaking a window and guiding them down a ladder to safety before returning to aid his wounded sister for fifteen days. Community sympathy extends to Mrs Norris.
