Farm Bureau convention reports and seed tree sales
Palo Alto County delegates attended the Iowa Farm Bureau convention in Des Moines from November 29 to December. Forest Rouse presented county resolutions to be included in state resolutions. Mrs. Gust Carlson spoke for county women’s groups. Walter Ruether and Senator Clinton Anderson addressed attendees on employment, trade, price supports, and farm policy. Howard Hill highlighted 1949 as the bureau’s best year. The report lists local attendees and notes seed and tree offers including uncertified seed at 2.97 per bushel and a tree order minimum of 500, with a variety of species available from state nurseries for erosion, wildlife, and water conservation programs.
