Last Call for Old Settler Bernard Bradley at Emmetsburg
Bernard Bradley died after a two week illness at his daughter's home in Emmetsburg. Funeral held at St. Thomas church with Father McNerny officiating. Born 1824 in Kills Meads Ireland, he emigrated to America at 18, lived in New York Rochester Green Bay and Wisconsin pineries before settling in Iowa. Married Mary Quinn in 1853, had fifteen children, eleven living in Emmetsburg and surrounding towns. Known for high character, industriousness, cheerfulness, honesty, and devotion to family.

Young Wyhram Torkelson Taken for Emergency Operation
Wyhram Torkelson, youngest son of T. Torkelson, was taken to Algona late last week for surgery as his appendicitis worsened. He had suffered ruptured appendix with spreading infection but had briefly appeared to improve under Dr. O Briens care before declining again and being moved to the hospital for examination.

Opera house progress advances toward January opening
Work on the new opera house is near completion with plastering and lighting installation remaining. Three hundred modern opera chairs have been secured for the basement. A first class play will open the program and Senator Kenyon is invited to give the afternoon address. Tickets will go on sale at $2 to $1. Scouting plans will ensure seating for at least 600. Community support is urged to back the project.

Miss Jessie Bigelow of fisher ville cares for Mrs. Dan Larsen, resting at her home south of town as friends hope her illness is not serious. PB. & Kautson on route No. 1 was a pleasant caller, noting his corn yield about thirty bushels per acre. He is a prosperous local farmer.
