Funeral of Mrs Karen Chres hangen held in town

The funeral for Mrs Karen Chres hangen, noted in last week’s Times, was held Wednesday November 23. Services occurred at the home and at First Lutheran church. Spencer-Torkelson of Osgood, John Williams of Emmetsburg, and Merrit Giffin of Independence township won the International prize for grain judging at the Chicago livestock show. Norris Anderson of Sherburn bought the Lancaster barber shop equipment and will open today. The Harold Barringer farm home near Ruthven was destroyed by fire Friday night and a two story house on the Otis Engelman place near Hoping burned Thursday night. Milo Reno of Des Moines spoke at the Hawkeye Theatre in Graettinger Friday under the Farm Union. The Graettinger High School teams won their first home games, girls 32 to 16 and boys 15 to 11, against Dolliver. players listed for girls and boys teams.
