State Adjusts Farm Values in Palo Alto
The State Tax Commission, acting as the State Board of Review, notified Palo Alto County Auditor Francis Hughes of percentage adjustments in real estate and personal property valuations for Palo Alto County. Taxes will not be known until mid January. The State increased rural building valuations about 50 percent while land decreased, causing roughly 10 percent overall reductions for many farmers. About 10 percent with small farms and improved buildings will see increases. The total county reduction is about 14,000 dollars, with millage details pending until joint district valuations are readjusted around January 1966.
