Nels Skow Died Friday Funeral Held Wednesday

Nels Skow longtime Graettinger and Palo Alto county resident died Friday at his son’s home in Lamberton Minnesota after years of ill health. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Lamberton and at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in the city with interment beside his wife in the local cemetery. The obsequies were well attended reflecting his many friends. Life details could not be secured for this week.

Mrs K M Paulsen funeral Friday in Graettinger

Mrs K M Paulsen aunt of P J and John Paulsen of this city died at her daughter’s home in Storden Minnesota Monday evening. Her remains will be shipped to Graettinger for interment. Funeral Thursday at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in this city. She was about 76 years old.

Graettinger Wins Kitten Tourney Final Over Emmetsburg

Graettinger topped Emmetsburg 11 9 in a tight final after leading early and trading blows in a four team Sunday kitten tourney. Wallingford edged Mallard 5 4 and Himmelaburg beat Wallingford 22 to 6 in the day’s other games with strong fan turnout.

The Graattinger High School band performed many selections at Wallingfordhat evening drawing a large audience. Boys and girls in the band were roundly applauded while Labor Day advertising was contributed during the event.

Terrible Auto Crash Near Estherville Kills Driver

A head on collision occurred Sunday afternoon on Highway No. 9 near the Wm. J. West farm east of Estherville. A Pontiac driven by Mr. and Mrs. Dease Dull and child Beverly Jane Stout collided with a Plymouth sedan carrying Mr. and Mrs. Ward C. Sovereign and Mrs. James Rumsey of Cresco. Mr. Dull died that evening, Mrs. Dull is gravely injured, and the Plymouth occupants plus the Dunst baby were hospitalized with varying injuries. Mr. Dull was a Mason City truck driver for a dairy. Ambulances rushed to the scene. transport to Colman hospital. Further details sought from Estherville News.

Elmer Meiner In Track Accident Near Graettinger

Elmer Meiner, Jim Andrew Guppa, and others escaped harm after a truck carrying cattle tipped on the road between Graettinger and Sioux City Tuesday afternoon. Damage valued at 225 to 150 dollars. A passing truck allegedly caused the crash. the other truck followed with hogs bound for the Sioux City market.

Dr D F E Cleveland a radio pastor from Yankton South Dakota will speak Friday afternoon at High Lake under the Hoping Union Sunday School. He previously preached at High Lake in July to an audience that praised his scholarly sermon and is regarded as a leading pastor of the northwest.

Seth Smith Visits Graettinger After Long Absence

Seth Smith of Lost Island township visits Graettinger for the first time since early November. He suffered a broken hip last winter and is not yet able to walk well, but many friends in town are pleased to see him and hope he recovers soon.
