Girl Burned In Gasoline Fire At Emmetsburg
Bernice Hilton, daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry Hilton of Emmetsburg, sustained severe burns Tuesday of last week after a lighted match ignited gasoline in a can. Her clothes caught fire but her father, nearby, smothered the flames. Reports say she was improving.

Auto crash near Ruthven injures three
An axle broke on a car near Ruthven Friday causing the vehicle to tip. Mrs. Hermansen, slightly bruised, and her three year old daughter, with a broken shoulder blade, were taken to Ruthven hospital for treatment. Her sister Miss Minnie Henningen suffered a dislocated arm. All are reported to be recovering and remained in Ruthven for several days.

Dear Mama and Papa I received your June 20 letter today. We have a Y here from the paper I am using. This country is beautiful but behind the United States in many ways. I cannot talk French yet but hope to soon. Parade in Paris on the Fourth was great with crowded streets. I have plans to tell you more when I get home if I ever do. The Estherville railway boys who recently enlisted have arrived safely in France.
