Long-serving couple remembered in Graettinger and West Union obituaries
The Times chronicles the life of Mrs. Duus and Mrs. Westfall, detailing long marriages, large families, and deep community impact. Mrs. Duus moved from Denmark to America, built a frugal independent life with her husband, and stood as a devout Lutheran matriarch. Mrs. Westfall, a pioneer immigrant mother, guided 24 grandchildren and a wide clan, serving as guardian and friend while enduring years of illness with Christian fortitude. The notices honor their devotion, family, and contributions to Graettinger and surrounding communities.
