In Emmetsburg a runaway team owned by Simon Culligan frightened the city causing wreckage of a wagon and harness after a tree trunk halted the horses. No injuries were reported to the horses.
A new well at Thornton yields a good water supply discovered at a depth of 539 feet. The find supports local needs and indicates productive subsurface conditions favorable for continued development.
