A lively Water Carnival drew strong participation with many volunteers putting in full effort. Organizers seek more ticket sellers for a $1000 Labor Day drawing, asking Don Graettinger to be contacted immediately.
Elmer Iverson was drawn for the Lucky Bucks last Saturday but was absent. The next drawing will again award 50 dollars. register at Roy's Service to be eligible for the prize.
Obituary notice for Harry William Sloniker born October 21 1903 in Buckman Minnesota who died August 3 1974 at Holy Family Hospital Estherville Iowa. Sloniker longtime farmer weather forecaster and business operator left four daughters four sons twenty two grandchildren four great grandchildren and siblings. He married Elsie Rhoades September 19 1926 and lived in Emmetsburg Graettinger and Estherville. He and his wife operated Harrys Place from 1962 to 1972. The obituary notes his death at age 70 years 9 months 12 days and lists surviving family members.
