Alternatives for Crop Rotations and Pesticide Change
Farmers have three options to manage pests and crops. One, grow any crop except corn and sorghum for two years, as one year out of corn does not stop rootworm damage in year two. Two, lease land to the government for one year and plant a non corn/sorghum crop the following year. Three, switch from aldrin and heptachlor to Diazinon and Thimet. Recommendations on application rates will be issued after corn harvest once studies indicate effective rates.
