Tragic Death of Leon Crowley at Beet Sugar Plant
Leon Crowley son of Mr and Mrs J W Crowley of Emmetsburg was killed instantly Saturday at Mas on City after a fall from a scaffold at the beet sugar plant. Funeral held in Emmetsburg Monday. The young man previously survived a vicious carnival attack in Emmetsburg last year. The Crowley family, well known in Graettinger, receives many expressions of sympathy.

Buick Involved In 50 MPH Turn Crash At Story City
Four occupants escaped unharmed after a Buick six cylinder speeding at fifty miles per hour failed to negotiate a sharp 4 percent curve near Story City. The car plunged down a 20 foot embankment, broke through a three inch bridge plank fence, damaged a concrete abutment and landed in mud at the river edge. Damages totaled 25 dollars.
