Nine Die In Okoboji Boat Crash
A fatal Okoboji boat collision Sunday night left nine dead and five missing as the speed boat Zipper struck the Thriller. Hartman and Yarnes were jailed on second degree murder charges with bonds set at 5000. Governor Hammill ordered the Hartman speed boats halted and pilots’ licenses revoked while a coroner led inquest proceeds into the disaster near Arnolds Park.

Barney Hassel and John Beecher gained ownership of a two months old wolf cub bought last week from the Beecher boys. The cub, though cute and clever, is unlikely to be a suitable pet. Nearby Graettinger reports wolves causing significant property losses this year. The Beecher boys keep seven wolves in a tile drain. this cub is their only secured specimen so far.
