The Graettinger Times editorial on world war opinions
A 1939 Graettinger Times editorial surveys public opinion on whether the United States should enter a future world war. It contrasts polls showing a strong No to active participation with a small Yes on involvement, discusses Axis powers, the Allies, Soviet Russia as a wild card, and the Administration’s internationalist stance led by Ambassador Bullitt. It notes potential policy shifts to allow rapid aid to democracies and outlines isolationist counterarguments and broader strategic risks.
