Breakfasts in Iowa City Schools Require Action
Dr. Irving King, education professor, finds 42 percent of 794 breakfast surveys for children below high school age were inadequate and many meals were unwholesome. Coffee consumption was high, only 149 children had milk, and cooked fruit or meat were rare. The study, though showing slight improvement from four years ago, urges school nurses and a home education campaign to address the issue.
