Services for Charlie A Burg a Graettinger resident aged 77 were held Friday April 9 with Father Vincent Beacom officiating at 10100 a.m. Burial followed at St Jacobs cemetery Burg son of Mr and Mrs Swan William Burg was born March 17 1899 in Des Moines Iowa and died April 6 1976 at Holy Family Hospital Estherville He moved to Palo Alto County in 1915 and married Katherine Maher in Graettinger in 1923 He served on the Graettinger police force and belonged to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church He is survived by his wife five sons two daughters thirty grandchildren ten great grandchildren one sister and three brothers Pallbearers were Don Graettinger Pete James Kenneth Mammen John Nolan Byron Rolfson Albert Schealler.

Large Group Contest Set For Spencer
The state final for bands orchestras and chorus groups will be held April 30 and May 1, 1976 at 17 sites with 360 member schools registering to compete in their class. Graettinger and many others will participate in Spencer and surrounding towns, as Iowa High School Music Association hosts the event drawing 33,750 students before top music educators.

Sigfred Helgeson born August 31 1914 near Graettinger Iowa son of Thomas and Martha Helgeson. He served in the Pacific Area in World War II until medical discharge. He worked as a meat cutter in the Long Beach area until ill health forced retirement. He died March 31 1976. Funeral services were conducted April 3 1976 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church Long Beach with interment at All Cours Cemetery Long Beach California. He survived by three brothers James Medford Oregon Leo Long Beach California Harold Finale Colorado and three sisters Helen Fontana California Nelle Ellingson Owatonna Minnesota and Bertha Marley Sandpoint Idaho. Beth McCombs of Graettinger was a recent visitor to Augustana College Sioux Falls South Dakota seeking study programs. she is a student at Graettinger Community High School.
