Senior Sketches chronicles Ath alyn Erickson born April 23, 1921 in Estherville Iowa and raised near Graettinger with early schooling in Estherville. It notes her move to Graettinger for high school and her passion for roller skating and basketball as her chief hobbies.
The elementary issue lists Gloria Vasey entries and a humor piece, with reports on the Ideal Student editorial by Vasey, classroom notes from First through Sixth Grades, and a notice of election for Lost Island township. It also includes barber ads and a will probate notice.
Palo Alto County Board of Supervisors met in Emmetsburg on March 21 1939 with all members present. Five bids were opened for gravelling 41.75 miles of secondary roads. Bauck Construction Co offered the lowest bid at 17803 25. The board voted to award the contract and adjourned to March 24 1939 with County Auditor Martin Thompson signing the record.
Court at Emmetsburg adjourns to April 1 after hearing objections to establishing Drainage Districts 159 and 160 and subdivision to District 5. Supervisors Gmre Cottington J M Robinson E A Huskamp Lew Phillips and T C Truon presiding. Motion to establish carried. Contains notes on filings and proofs of publication.
Palo Alto County officials met in Emmetsburg at 1 A M to elect Johannes Schmidt as chairman and Martin Thompson as secretary. Minutes from November 25 1938 were approved. A contract letting for a clean out was set for April 17 1989 with bids by the yard and the hour. the auditor authorized to advertise. The Joint Board adjourned to call of the Auditors.
The Senate approved two bills on Thursday and Friday with no recorded opposition. One bill allows blind veterans to earn up to 30 dollars monthly without losing pension benefits. The other, Senate File 227, caps agricultural land millage within city school districts at 15 mills, addressing farms taxed at 5 to 7 dollars per acre in some towns.
