250000 Income Tax Reports Swamp Des Moines Office
W. E. Rogers income tax auditor reported at the Times office that 120,600 unopened tax reports had flooded Des Moines collector’s office Monday with more expected. John Benesh of Wallingford, 71, died of pneumonia at Coleman hospital Estherville Saturday. Funeral held at Estherville Catholic church Tuesday. Born in Czechoslovakia February 10, 1864, he came to the United States as a young man and settled near Wallingford in 1898. Survived by wife, one son, and four daughters. Funeral for Fred Baedke Held in Terril Church
Funeral services for Fred Baedke were held Friday afternoon at home and at the Terril German Lutheran church, with Rev. H. A. Wagner officiating. Interment followed in Terril parochial cemetery. Baedke, 37, died Tuesday evening at Coleman hospital after a paralysis and meningitis illness. He was born in Pomeroy and moved to Graettinger area, married Anna Rierson in 1922, and left five children, plus six brothers and three sisters. The community mourns a man described as upright, honest, devoted husband and father. The Times extends sympathy to his wife, children, and siblings.
