Legson Kayira Walked From Nyasaland To Lincoln Memorial
A Malawi born youth Legson Kayira left his village in Nyasaland barefoot in 1958 with a Bible and Pilgrims Progress. He walked through Africa seeking education and independence, reached Kampala and Khartoum, then the United States via an embassy courtesy. After Skagit College and USIS support he studied at Washington University and Cambridge, finishing with a degree in political science.
