Several locals, including Josephine Gerig and family, moved to town property opposite the Missionary church. revival meetings are planned at the Missionary church next Sunday evening with ongoing Red Cross activities at Grabill town hall.

Frederick H Gitlect Selected Floor Leader of Republicans

Frederick H Gitlect of Massachusetts was nominated to be the floor leader of the Republicans in the lower house of Congress to succeed James HR Mann, who announced a temporary retirement due to ill health. Gitlect has served over 22 years in Congress and is the ranking minority member of the Appropriations Committee.

Burglars Strike Grabill and Spencer Towns

Burglars entered several Grabill businesses last Friday night breaking into the Wabash depot office through a window and stealing a small amount of cash from A Neuenschwander Co. Implement store. They then robbed the Grabil Motor Sales garage and creamed a cream station before moving on to Spencerville where multiple stores were burglarized.

Automobiles Collide Near Grabill in Drunken Crash

Last Monday evening about eight o'clock a crash occurred between a car owned and driven by Frank Zeimmer of Harlan and another owned by Dr. B O Shook of St. Joe driven by his son Donald. The collision, one mile east of Grabill near the Goldsmith residence, sent both cars into a ditch. Shook’s car suffered about $300 in damage charged to Zeimmer, who was intoxicated. Zeimmer's car was less damaged. The piece also notes a recent public challenge between a Dodge and an Overland to climb a bank barn grade, with the Overland proving superior in that contest.

NO SMALLPOX IN GRABILL

Fort Wayne health officials investigated a Grabill outbreak of illness among children. Initial smallpox findings were overturned as the doctor declared chickenpox and removed quarantine cards, much to residents relief including the shut ins.

Local Convention Opens at Missionary Church with Eliza Von Gunten

This Thursday evening a local convention begins at the Missionary church and runs to Saturday. Miss Eliza Von Gunten, a missionary to China for twenty one years, will attend throughout. Rev H C Thissen will lead revival meetings Sunday evening and continue for an unspecified time. French Naval Losses From Submarine Attacks

Losses of French ships in the week ended December 1 totaled more than 1,600 tons in two ships and less than 1,600 tons in two ships. Two fishing boats were sunk, and two submarines were attacked but not sunk.
