Gowrie opens 1872 with new shops J A Johanson shoe store John Johnson blacksmith David Risk hardware C B Gilmore restaurant W C Parks buys and sells Jackson restaurant. Rail-era improvements, new Bomberger Meat Market, and clergy changes. Fires November 1892 destroy four stores including Johanson shoe shop. a coal prospecting stock company forms. By 1893 firms reopen, new pastors arrive, and a Democratic postmaster is appointed.
