Car Collision Narrowly Averts Serious Injury at Main and Washington
Last evening a Buick driven by Wm. Donaldson of Lima Indiana collided with the S F Spohn auto at the Main and Washington corner. Obituary: P. K. Darkwood Pioneer of Hokland Family
P K Darkwood born in Hokland in 1827 united with Hannah Degroot in 1849. They emigrated to this country in 1867 and raised three sons and two daughters. He died at Stat 14 and is survived by three sons one daughter and many grandchildren. Funeral held at Whitehead church at 10 30 this forenoon.

Snake killed by Peru division workers near Mentone
Employees on the Peru division of the Winona Interurban railway killed a big black snake a little over five feet long near Mentone. Wilbur Foulke and John Hoover spotted the reptile crossing the wagon rail and promptly killed it to prevent harm. It was one of the largest snakes killed in the area for some time.

A flood of pocketbooks were stolen at the Elkhart county fair as 50 to 75 were found along Lake Shore railway tracks. Victims include George Kinnison, Eph Hartz, Albert Keith, Albert Sheffer, Perry Fowler, EB Prickett, H A Bishop, and others with losses ranging from a few dollars to hundreds.
