Wreck on G M Branch Wrecks Excursion Train
An excursion train on the G M branch enroute to Marshall Michigan to attend the fair derailed yesterday when rails spread between Finley and Battle Creek. Seven cars went into the ditch and one rail punched through a cinch. Despite about 700 aboard, there were no fatalities and the most serious injury was a passenger with a broken color bone. The Lake Shore train from Goshen failed to reach Battle Creek.
Visiting Horsemen Dine At Goshen Turtle Supper
Local horsemen hosting visiting riders from out of town at the Elkhart county fair gave a large turtle supper in Neidig’s barn on South Main. More than 60 people attended including non-horsemen guests and over 50 pounds of turtle were prepared. Guests praised Goshen and the Elkhart county fair and pledged to attend in the future.
