James Maxwell Killed by Lake Shore Train
James Maxwell aged 71 and an inmate of Elkhart County infirmary was struck by a westbound Lake Shore Mail train near the infirmary crossing at about 1 pm. He died instantly as the train hurled him 200 feet. his brother William Maxwell of Osceola witnessed the accident.
