Charles Murray, a Goshen cigar maker, accused a street fakir of fraud at Lincoln and Main last night. After a heated exchange he insulted a local woman and struck George Evans, prompting Officer Coburn to intervene. Murray pleaded guilty to intoxication, fined 11 dollars and costs, and was jailed 11 days. other charges dropped and his name removed from Myers payroll.

A 13 year old boy spotted a one foot rail break about seven pm on the Big Four line two miles from Elkhart. He ran home for a lantern and flagged the Benton Harbor excursion train and a local freight, narrowly avoiding a disaster as both trains passed over the break. No name was learned.
