Local notices and sales mix with community updates
A crowded jumble from a small town newspaper includes weather forecast notes of fair nights, market items from Chapman & Firestone and Poyser's on oysters and dressed spring chickens, a run of advertisements for Dangler's, M. Gilbert and Son shoes, and说 a religious/educational notice about county Sunday school officers. It also reports Judge Parker speaking in South Bend, a WwW. O. W. meeting, a Holmes county visitor, and church supper plans with a 25 cent menu. The items reflect commerce, social events, and local personalities like David Plaut and Mrs. Kate Carpenter Wachtal.

Man calls himself sought after criminal Jocko Briggs
Joseph King, jailed in county custody awaiting transfer to the penitentiary for pocketpicking, claims identity as Jocko Briggs or Jocko the Flipper, a Chicago figure known to police. He was tried in Chicago five years earlier for murder but acquitted on a second trial. Briggs says police have pursued him in every city he visits. Judge Lawrence sentenced him to two years in the penitentiary, and he plans reform work with criminals after his release.
