Commissioners vote no on gravel plan for county roads
Elkhart county commissioners in a special session rejected a plan to surface three roads with concrete and keep gravel on the first two. They approved a two mile concrete section on the third road if funded, and awarded a gravel contract for the Locke road to Vaveises Miller of Kihart. A Bristol Mottville road gravel decision was postponed pending a petition and potential concrete change.

Nervy train stopper condemned with fine and sentence
John E E Monroe, 26, who caused the stoppage of three sections of the New York Central’s 20th Century at Millersburg, pleaded guilty to malicious trespass. He paid a 25 dollar fine and received 60 days on the penal farm, sentence suspended for good behavior. The court also heard a divorce petition, probate matters, and set hearings for a six week term as five cases were dismissed.
