Washington May 20 Special After ship bill passage in the house the conference report on the Army bill was taken up. Chairman Hay of the Military committee urged adoption with all increases agreed upon by conferees.

A Goshen owned auto driven by Fred Banta and carrying Carlton Renbarger went into a ditch on the Manchester pike one mile south of Urbana Wabash county at 6 yesterday afternoon. INDIANAPOLIS May 20 It has been learned that the state tax board has made a net increase of $4,795,355 in the assessment for taxation of all the property in the state of steam railroads interurbans street car companies telegraph and telephone lines transportation express sleeping car and pipe line companies over the amount of last year The total valuation placed on the properties this year by the board is $279,452,639 compared with $274,717,284 last year.
In Indianapolis special report authorities ordered Harry Boggs and Theodore McCain to examine and audit the books of Elkhart Gas and Fuel company in connection with a petition seeking a rate decrease.

Charles Proper 19 and Charles Fogle 21 of St Marys Ohio and Levi Clark 25 of Toledo were sentenced by Judge Harman in Elkhart to from one to 14 years in the Jeffersonville reformatory for breaking into and robbing a freight car on the N C at Elkhart.
