Killed on Railroad Near City Limits
William Berryman, a mute inmate at the county asylum, was found dead near the Lake Shore railroad tracks just west of the city. He was likely struck by a passing Lake Shore train around two o'clock, though the exact train could not be ascertained. He had been sleeping in a barn to escape heat and had been working for nurseryman A. M. Murray before disappearing last evening. Coroner Dewey investigated. Berryman was about 40 years old with two nephews and two nieces named in the inquiry.

A distressed 19 year old boy in woods near North Manchester was attacked by a stranger who fled after rifling pockets finding only a five foot dog chain.
