Franks Bound Over in Counterfeiting Case at Elkhart
George Washington Franks of Cass County Michigan is bound over to federal court after arraignment in Elkhart. Secret Service Agent Thomas E. Hail and Elkhart police witnesses testified as dyes and molds were shown. Franks, 45, admitted guilt in part and was jailed in Marion County for lack of funds. His partner G Wellington Jones will be moved to Grand Rapids for federal action.

Fire Hits Wakarusa General Store
A fire at about 6:30 PM last evening damaged Frash Bros. general store in Wakarusa located in a building owned by Daniel Eshelman. Loss estimates range from 1200 to 1500 dollars with logs and building fully insured. The cause remains uncertain though Lev Frash notes lighting lamps in display windows prior to the flames. Firefighters halted the blaze within minutes and display goods in the windows were ruined while the main store area was saved.

Mill Fire Wrecks Lesh Prouty Abbott Plant at East Chicago
Frank P. Abbott reports the Lesh Prouty Abbott mill in East Chicago destroyed by fire Thursday night with an estimated loss of 30,000 dollars for the mill structure and 20,000 dollars in lost business. No insurance covered the mill, only the stock. The engine and boilers were damaged beyond repair and will take three months to replace. The fire’s origin is unknown though boiler rooms are suspected.

Remains to Be Interred for Chicago Adopted Son
E W Baker of Chicago arrived in the city and was in Ligo nier this morning. The remains of Fred Gardner his adopted son who was killed by a street car in Chicago January 14 and laid in Oak Ridge cemetery vault since then will be interred Sunday at 4 pm. Engineer Shot In Cab As Boy Fires At Moving Train
James Weidenbeck, former Lake Shore traveling engineer now in Elk Hart, was shot in the left arm near Momence by a boy who fired at a passing freight engine. He died later at his Elk Hart home. Several local obituaries follow including Mrs Mary J Brown 59, Mrs Alice Beardsley 55, Philip Eller Mishawaka resident and Odd Fellow, and Levi Schellinger 61 who collapsed leading a cow on his Elkhart area farm. Dredge Sold Amid Dismantling and Ditch Contract

Robbery on Lake Shore Freight at Corunna
