Mrs Walsh represented by Perry L Tuarnar filed a $2000 damage suit against Indiana Railway Co over an April 8 1902 incident at an inter urban station. She alleges humiliation by ticket agent Reich after entering with her son and Adaline Weaver.
The city’s mayor elect, George F Alderman, has received numerous telegrams and letters of congratulations from Republicans, Indiana Democrats, traveling salesmen, and Goshen residents across the country. Notables include John W Kern, James C Fletcher, Edward A Campbell, and many others. A Goshen woman sent a verse praising Alderman as a man of honor and integrity. Deputy Chatten to retire after January 1 1903 following a long sheriff's office career. Sheriff Elliott's successor may take over and Chatten weighs future plans.
Mire Department rushed to 505 South Main Street after a fire alarm from box 81 at 10 45 this forenoon. A frame structure in the rear of the residence burned though roof damage was light and the loss seems small. Firefighters arrived promptly. Buck Snyder tried to reach the fire with his dray as his dog tied to the wagon attempted to break away.
Fred Rudd, clerk, arranged an original window display advertising cards from the United States Playing Card Co. of Cincinnati. The window features two young ladies posed as dolls playing cards, described as a very complete and clever artistic scheme that has attracted much attention.

Nappanee's Brown Bros. begin a 20 by 60 addition to their tank factory while Coppes Zook Muechler Co breaks ground on new factory buildings. When finished, the projects will provide employment for about 100 more workers.

An Elkhart man reports receiving a letter from James Mather now confined in the Longcliff asylum. Mather says he expects to stay for life but is not lonesome, noting many Elkhart county residents there and many more who ought to be.
Truth reports that Thomas Montgomery the colored doctor will be moved to Longcliff immediately after acceptance, expected within a day or two. He is under nurse care at his office and becomes violent with delusions that certain people are present, a noted feature of his insanity.
