Juries to be drawn next Monday for the May term which opens May 2. Judge Ferrall is said to be improving and may limit the term’s length due to remodeling work. Divorce filings and new marriage licenses appear on the docket.
The circuit court ends the Ella Johnson versus Peter Johnston divorce amid adultery allegations involving David Melrose of the Big Four. Judge Coolidge grants the divorce to Peter after he filed a cross bill. Melrose and Ella were said to have registered as man and wife in Benton Harbor. Other court items note petty larceny conviction for Clyde Sensibaugh and ongoing cases in Syracuse and Goshen.
Parfitt Engraving Co today shipped machinery to Fort Wayne for a new plant. John Parfitt Wilbur Schmeykal Walter Schmeykal and Vern Blough will relocate to the city.

Middlebury township voters approve a 10000 subsidy to aid an Elkhart to LaGrange electric line. The measure carried by 68 votes in a split election, with Washington township defeating a 3000 request by 25 votes. Col James Dodge of Elkhart predicts construction soon, despite Bristol’s small defeat.
Eastern manufacturers who buy Indiana wool warn producers to avoid binder twine tied around bundles. The twine fibers cling to wool, reducing value by 3 to 1 cent per pound, and vegetable fibers resist dye. Wool producers are urged to use soft woolen strings instead.
P. C. Woodruff a Walkerton lawyer formerly of South Bend was arrested on embezzlement charges after Joseph Kaminski accused him of taking 69. Kaminski says Woodruff collected the money and did not turn it over.

The program for the County Institute of the W C T U at the Presbyterian church in Elkhart includes devotional, organization, and department discussions, memorial services, music, and a gold medal contest with participants from Goshen Nappanee Elkhart Middlebury Wakarusa and other areas. Sessions run Thursday afternoon and Friday with various speakers and a closing benediction.

Tickets go on sale May 15.
