Several foreclosures fraud and contract suits seek damages. Local courts report fines for intoxication and a jailed Russian wagon driver.
Mullin family mourns as two year old daughter dies from injuries after a stair fall four weeks ago with paralysis. Jameson, 67, dies at daughter’s home in Napanee and is buried in Bremen. Sweet, 74, passes at Locke home of daughter Mrs. Robinson.

The sum of 300 dollars may be appropriated by St Joseph County for gathering data on the proposed Lake Michigan and Erie canal. The county commissioners favor the appropriation. Funds will be spent to collect data on all phases of the canal question and submitted to Col Charles Zinn of Chicago to prepare a report for the War Department board of engineers on the proposed waterway.
Joseph C. Holloway foreman and car tester for Amplex Auto Co. testified before Judge Farnbaugh in Mishawaka about exceeding the speed limit. He admitted breaking the statutory limit and cited a top speed of 55 mph between South Bend and Mishawaka near the Orphans' Home, insisting he did not consider it fast.
Mr Summit of Toledo has closed a deal with Harry G Sommers of New York to occupy the Jefferson theatre for the summer with a picture show. Plans call for a Monday opening. In summer 1908 E B Joseph at the Jefferson previously showed pictures. Summit aims to present the best pictures possible.
The Mummert building front on South Main street was found dangerous as an awning install neared by Lehman Bros. Occupants. A rotted timber supported the wall and steel beams replace it. The aged brick structure survived the 1880 fire in Goshen.
In 18 months from July 31 1909 to Jan 31 1911 the Kendallville Waterloo Fort Wayne lines cost 249 040 04 to operate and receipted 252 293 99. After adding the balance and the 6209 on hand, the road’s treasury stood at 9462 95. The road remains under receivership.

John Kohler filed a suit in South Bend Superior Court against Wisconsin Bridge and Iron Co Grand Trunk Western railroad and James W Marborough seeking 1999 99 in damages. Kohler and Martin Woeful were arrested on trespass and assault and battery charges after an incident on the Grand Trunk bridge where workers were threatened and alleged a plot to blow up the bridge calling workers scabs.
Mrs Albert Lehman born Johnson died of tuberculosis at Battle Creek Michigan at age 33. She is survived by her husband and two children. The remains were brought to Nappanee for burial.
