The Lusitania loss is tallied with 457 perished off the Irish coast and 703 saved. The British Admiralty confirms survivors. the U.S. will seek Germany's official report via Ambassador Gerard. A Cork dispatch notes 44 survivors landed at Queenstown.
Reports from New York May 8 say rumors list prominent Americans among those lost when the Lusitania was torpedoed off the Irish coast. Names such as Elbert Hubbard and Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt appear, with Charles Pronaing Th iastica producer cited among the possibilities.
Official program preparation for the Memorial Day observance in Goshen with Flower Post No. 1k GA. R preparing the schedule. Memorial Day falls on Sunday this year and the observance is set for Monday May 31 with Daniel J. Trover delivering the oration at Oak Ridge cemetery and committees named to solicit funds.
A daughter was born to Mr and Mrs Enos Musser of Harrison Township. Mrs Alfred Vance of Millersburg is also mentioned in the notice.

Ann Arbor May 8 Spencer T. Alden of Fort Wayne and Francis A. Bade of Goshen Ind are two of 50 students chosen for their musical talents to join the University of Michigan Musical clubs on their second tour of the year. They are away this weekend giving concerts in Grand Rapids and Jackson Alden is a glee club member and Bade belongs to the mandolin club.
Mr and Mrs Elilish Thompson of this city were among first cabin passengers aboard the Lusitania when it was torpedoed off the coast of Ireland on Thursday. Their fate remains unknown at this time.
The Farm Home Economic Club met this afternoon with lectures on Beds and Bedding by Mrs. J P Michael and The Kitchen and Its Utensils by Mrs. Alfred Kane. A committee of Mrs. Guy Rieth, Mrs. Bert Stutsman and Mrs. Charles Michael was formed to arrange the summer picnic for the second Saturday in June, location to be announced.
Meetings set for tomorrow will appoint triads of men from each local Bible class to lead a campaign against law violators. The Federated Bible Class association, newly formed, will oversee efforts to punish saloon owners and bootleggers following the July 31 crackdown.
The excursion season will soon open as the Big Four expects a drop in travel to Benton Harbor and St. Joseph due to saloons being voted out of Berrien County.
Waterford Christian Church invites mothers of all scholars to attend Sunday school at 10 a.m. and the preaching service at 3 p.m. A prayer meeting is set for Friday at 7:30 p.m. Tomorrow is Mother’s Day and all mothers are invited to meet at 10 a.m.

Mrs. Claudia Beerup and her 12 year old daughter Isabelle were partially overcome by escaping coal gas in their Elkhart home. Fire crews responded to the incident and ensured they were safe. No further injuries reported.

Goshen High School and Elkhart High School competed at Elkhart Driving Park in front of a large crowd this afternoon. Goshen dominated early events with Rohrer first and Mikart second in the 100 yard dash while the track was wet from a passing shower. About 100 spectators attended as the rival teams prepared for upcoming meets in Gary and a triangular meet on May 22 in South Bend Elkhart and Goshen.
John W Leer of Dunlaps died this morning at his home from kidney and heart trouble. A Civil War veteran born near Goshen, he lived in Inlkhart County most of his life. Survived by wife and two daughters Mrs Lorenzo Upson of Elhart and Mrs W Daly of North Webster, plus three sisters. Funeral arrangements pending.
At the May 17 council meeting a resolution will seek authorization to build a sewer on Severin street from Lincoln avenue to Washington street. Staples Ackerman of South Red hold contracts for sewers on Seventh from Washington to Dollas and from the first alley south of Jackson to Marvin, with an arm on Franklin from Seventh to Main. New water mains are being laid along the street and paving is slated for next year. Eighth street will be prepared for paving from Lincoln avenue to the College in TN16.
Sixty boys from the Server's Guild of the Michigan City diocese gathered at Elkhart for their annual meeting. Arch Deacon James Rayburn of Huntington preached at St. John's Church. Delegates came from Goshen Huntington Plymouth South Bend Mishawaka Michigan City and surrounding areas. Reverend Father Scofield of St. James Church in Goshen attended.
The sixteenth annual reunion of the OT Reg. Ind. Vols. will be held at Culver Maxinkuckee Jake on Monday. The Hispano war era unit was known as the Studebaker Tigers with Goshen’s Company CL part of it. Attendees from here include Joe I. Wanks and others. A Culver Military Academy inspection and cadet review are scheduled Monday morning. Expected guests include H H A Hawks George Shrock William Burker John Bickel Richard Collins Allen Berkey Sam Osborne Joe Hawks Harry Miller Fred Everett Charles F. Cline Joseph Collins Purl Ulery George Klein and Mr P Bradford. The trip will be by autos starting about 4 20 Monday morning.
Miss Sarah Lucille Stump, known on stage as Chie Patterson, wed Alton H. Stage of Goshen at Laporte. She was a dancer with the Ralston musical comedy company, which has been playing at low-priced theaters in the area.
The Pennsylvania Railroad company is consummating a 65 million dollar general mortgage gold bond issue at 44 percent. Local subscriptions are being taken at 98 14 and interest details follow.

Indiana officials plus 100 delegates head to Baltimore for the 42nd National Conference of Charities and Corrections. Demarchus C. Brown chairs the corrections committee. Gov. Ralston appointed many delegates from northern Indiana. Amos W. Butler will read addresses. Vida Newsom and Ernest P. L. Bicknell are among notable participants.
Mrs. Maude Spohn of Goshen was named a delegate by Gov. Ralston but her trip to Redondo Beach California before the appointment prevents her attendance.
Prohibitionists of Elkhart county met in the court house to reorganize. Attendance was poor and J R Schwaidt the state chairman was scheduled for an address.
Chicago correspondents say Gordon was taken to Chicago after being arrested in Elkhart as a suspect in the Coopersmith murder. They believe he is a criminal yet have no evidence linking him to the murder of Mrs. Coopersmith and her child.
Charles A. Hank of Indianapolis, longtime life insurer and former president of the Casualty Life Insurance Co., addressed about 100 insurance and business men at the Chamber of Commerce in South Bend. He predicted many benefits from the recently enacted state law.

The statement notes the death in Los Angeles of a man identified as St. Vrain, brother of Miss Katherine St. Vrain, formerly of Goshen, who had been living with him. He died in Los Angeles, California.

Mrs. Margaret Wescow died at Elkhart at noon today of heart trouble. She was 76. Survived by two daughters and six sisters.

Mrs Anna Boyce-Roser, 30, wife of Guy Roser and daughter of TMenman Boyce Sr., died at 3:20 this afternoon after a 16 week illness with tuberculosis. She is survived by her husband, two children, her father, two sisters and three brothers.

Rev. BL Lake campaign manager for the days says there will be no contest of the focal option election. He notes possible prosecution of individual illegal voting cases. The statement follows a conference with day workers and RW Monger of the election Commission, who refused to stand the official canvass.
A man named Leming is in severe pain from a thigh wound after a shooting near South Sond Wednesday afternoon. Six suspects were confronted in the Mkinui city court room, with Leming stating his assailant was not among them. Victim FLCL Jeter remains in General hospital, the bullet removed from his thigh. Gingerich was moved to hospital due to worse condition.

Edward Campfield who was reported dead at Alma Michigan arrived in Elkhart to visit relatives. He says he cannot understand how the report of his death started.
At Indianapolis the Tri-State Master Bakers Association of Indiana Ohio and Michigan will hold its convention at the Hotel Severin in Indianapolis on May 24 25 and 28.
George Chapman of Gostien pleaded guilty in the Elkhart Superior Court to sodomy. He was fined 200 dollars plus costs and sentenced to Jeffersonville for a term of two to fourteen years. He has been taken to the reformatory.
Twenty five years ago Mrs. George Method died suddenly at Millersburg on Wednesday. George Haulet reports a daughter from Jefferson Township. George W. Ginn, once county commissioner, improved after injury driving under an arch last week. A Goshen resident rumored to be married to an Indianapolis woman denies the claim. The Indiana man, described as a well known citizen, says there is no need for a divorce suit and announces his innocence. Separate reports mention another Goshen couple facing estrangement and potential divorce proceedings.
Henry Paul treasurer of the Fort Wayne and Northern Indiana traction line denied a report that the company planned to connect Kendallville with Goshen by trolley. He said the road would not be built and suggested the company would have bought the Fort Wayne and Springfield line if other expansion were intended.
A Big Four gasoline speeder was wrecked at Aspinwald avenue in Fikchart. George Flennn, 60, and Claude rstep, Big Four employees, were seriously hurt. Theodore Gibhardt and Mert Sterner, also employees, were on the speeder and escaped.
The 60th annual convention of Indian Christian churches begins Monday at Marion and runs through Thursday Elkhart County delegates will attend and participate.
