aged 84, a well known resident for over 40 years, died suddenly this afternoon at 1 o'clock of heart trouble at her daughter Mrs Israel Myers 210 South Tenth street. Surviving are three daughters Mrs George Rose of St Joseph Mich Mrs Jacob Kreider and Mrs Israel Myers of this city and two sons Eli Doering of Paola Kan Roy Doering of this city. Funeral services Monday at 2 30 from the residence Rev C Van der Mel officiating. Burial Oak Ridge.
The body of Otto Bear, 25, was found in the highway near his home outside Churubusco. Authorities believe heart ailment contributed to his death after he tried to stop a runaway horse. He worked as a carpenter and lived with his mother, Mrs Ela Bear. Smith Matthews, a teamster, located the body. Bear's horse was grazing nearby.
A report states the watchman at the New York Central crossing in Kendallville was asleep when a train struck the auto carrying Rev. George Kemp and his sister Mrs. Eva Basler, causing their fatalities.

Jacob Crull 58, of Elkhart county and visiting relatives there, swallowed muriatic acid and died at 9 am after his body was found on the steps near Second and Marion streets. He had lived in Elkhart and St Joseph counties, once worked as Montana legislator, and sought Congress last year but lost to Jeanette Rankin. Surviving are a brother Elliott Crull and two sisters Mrs Little and Mrs Alice Applegate. Funeral Monday at Stephens chapel Elkhart.
Harry Neuman of Sturgis Michigan arrived in Elkhart after learning his father Otto Neuman jeweler and former city official died by self inflicted gunshot at the Golden hotel. The son said his father had no apparent motive and left debts to be settled by a daughter. the death occurred after he checked in under an assumed name.
County Recorder John W Swart and ministers Rev John Keelley and Rev Harman judged yesterday's high school prelims in the auditorium selecting Miss Virginia Cantwell and Joh Gunther to represent the girls and boys at the Northern Indiana Oratorical contest in Gary on Saturday evening May 12 in connection with the track and field meet. Russell Stambaugh named alternate for Mr Gunther.

John H. Jones, 54, longtime Elkhart night baggage man at the N. C. station, died at his daughter Mrs. C. E. Porter’s home in South Bend where he had lived since last November. Death caused by asthma and heart ailment. Survived by two daughters, five sisters, and two brothers.
W. A. Cochran of Albion has purchased the fine cottage of F. P. Bothwell at Wawasee and will occupy it this summer. Bothwell may erect a smaller cottage.

Milton M. Galentine of East Purl street, now gravely ill, observed his 77th birthday today. He was born May 5, 1840 in Gosh en, the site of the county jail. Pierce Swart of Jackson township, former county superintendent of schools, also celebrated his 81st birthday. born May 5, 1836 in Holland.
Asher Brothers formerly of Goshen who own many Chicago movie houses have erected a theatre at Marinette Wisconsin. The Ashers have become wealthy through operation of movie houses.
Arthur Peterson, a South Bend police officer, was acquitted of conduct unbecoming an officer after charges filed by Thomas Moss. The verdict ends the disciplinary case and clears Peterson of the accusations.
South Bend police seek a woman tied to the Meixel case but have not located her. Authorities request information leading to her whereabouts.

Archie Paul a 30 year old driver for the Coop and Lent show fell from a heavy wagon near Warsaw while hauling goods to the Big Four station. He died minutes after reaching McDonald hospital. Card on his body identified him with the number 400 A. W. O. union and the general card number 257835. No witness to the accident and the cause remains unknown. The circus had been billed for Warsaw but did not exhibit.
