Edward Clark a prominent Elkhart prairie landowner and wealthiest farmer in the county died at his home after a pneumonia attack. He owned 600 acres across two farms and left a large family including eight children and many grandchildren. Funeral services were planned at the Baintertown church with local officials officiating.

Severe electrical storm near Fort Wayne kills farmer
A sudden storm swept just south of Fort Wayne at 4 pm yesterday, causing property and fruit tree damage and a fatality. Fred Beine, 20, a farmer's son, was struck by lightning while en route to the barn while plowing in a field. The storm lasted ten minutes with heavy rain.
