William Beatty of Elkhart sues Dr. I Wright Short for malpractice alleging hip dislocation and back injury from a mistaken hip setting after a wagon move to the Keyser farm in St Joseph county. Ex-senators Vail and Proctor appear for Beatty. Peahl Deahl defend. Jury selection took one hour before Judge Drake.
James Violett was arrested yesterday near the interurban depot by Marshall Chrisman after being found intoxicated. His friends rescued him and he was taken home, but a complaint was filed in the mayor's court. David D. Rodibaugh posted bond for appearance tomorrow at 9330.

Ashley March 81 Special Cal Vin Smith, marshal, is held for shooting Lew Collins, a farmer, in the ankle. Berne Parsett, 28, arrested for poll tax non payment, was in the scene when the marshal attempted to speak with him and became enraged triggering the shooting.
Mrs. David Weaver aged about 45 a well known Wakarusa resident died at her home early this morning from a heart ailment while sitting in a chair She became sick upon arising and died before a doctor arrived Surviving husband and eleven children The deceased was a daughter of the late John Shaum of Wakarusa and sister of Mrs Ed Leinhart wife of the Wakarusa undertaker.
Francis M Young, 62, of Elkhart, dies at home after grip and heart complications. He lived in Elkhart 40 years, survived by his wife, his father Henry Young, three brothers, and a half sister. Morris Miner, 10, son of Perry Miner, dies of scarlet fever at home north of Nappanee. burial at South Union. parents, a brother Claude, and sister Frankie survive.
Funeral services for Mordecai J. Neff were held this afternoon at the Church of the Brethren at Fifth and Clinton streets with Rev. Kitson officiating. Burial followed at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Harold Slabaugh of this city resigns from Smith Furniture Co in Elkhart and accepts a traveling representative post for a vacuum company.
Harry L. Wright of northwest of Bristol fractured his left foot when his kick caught between a limb and the stump during a willow tree cutting. Bert Keller freed him after effort. Wright will be unable to use the foot for about three weeks.
Ernest Hanson recovered his bicycle this morning which had been stolen Saturday evening in front of Canty kitchen on South Main Street. It is known who took the wheel.
Funeral services were held this afternoon for Robert Smith the 11 year old nephew of Mrs Scott Thomas. The boy was accidentally shot and killed while playing with a companion at Silver Lake at the home of his aunt Mrs Underlin.
