In Sturgis, Harry Mieras and Clyde Unger settled a case begun on a charge of obtaining money under false pretenses after Unger sold Mieras a team of horses. Mieras claimed the animals were misrepresented and sought recovery.
Funeral services for Robert Smith will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the home of his aunt Mrs Underhill at Silver Lake. The boy, a nephew of Mrs Scott Thomas of Goshen, was accidentally shot and killed by a playmate.
The local Phi Delta Kappa chapter will meet in rooms in the Jefferson block this evening. They plan a smoker for next Thursday evening.

John S Bartlemay aged nearly 57 and native of Goshen died at Longcliff hospital near Togansport after 26 years there from paralysis. Son of Mary Bartlemay and Henry Bartlemay he was born July 28 1859 in Goshen and once partnered in Henry Bartlemay & Son boot and shoe firm. He never recovered after a 30 year paralytic stroke and resided at Longcliff until his death. Funeral at St James Episcopal Church with burial at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Everett Kemp will present The Music Master at 8:05 tonight as part of a Redpath Lyceum Bureau program. Kemp is billed as a leading interpreter of great works and a popular attraction this season.
A Mishawaka gambling den above Alphonsé Ver Wilst’s saloon was raided and five people arrested. Named attendees include Alphone Ver Wilst Geo Plily Kenneth Miller Gus Ditch and Mike Dressler. Ver Wilst pleads guilty to keeping a gaming room while others plead guilty to gaming.

Edith was wife of the plaintiff.

Private funeral services were held for Daniel K Greatwood who died Monday. The obituary notes the services were conducted at the residence on sadlebury and Buffalo is mentioned in error.
Fifty attended the Pythian Sisters evening at Mr and Mrs Charles Kohler's home on North Third Street with supper and games. The Starlight Embroidery club met at Mrs Fred Osborne's home on North Street for refreshments and sociability. Beulah Kreider hosted a luncheon for Lillian Egbert at 411 South Fifth Street.
C S Silverman of Toledo suffered heart trouble outside Wilson drug store and was taken to hospital. He refused further care at Hattle hotel, returned to hospital overnight, and received funds from the Jewish society to reach Cleveland, departing at 11:02 via the NY C.
Memorial services for Senator B. F. Shively were conducted by the St. Joseph County Bar Association this morning at 9 in the circuit court room of South Bend. Concluding encomiums were given by T. B. E. Howard C. P. Drummond and F. J. Lewis Meyer with W. W. Vanfleet presiding. Shively remained a bar member in South Bend until his death.
Hugh A. Miller, the sole Elkhart resident and postal clerk, ran on the Twentieth Century Limited between Buffalo and Chicago but was away on a week off and thus not involved in the Amherst wreck.

Loren A Griffin of Griffin Engineering Co resident of Elkhart sent a telegram from Amherst Ohio describing the N C wreck. He said the second section of their train struck the wreck at 3 30 in the morning. Thirty were killed and 15 injured. He reported he was bruised and unnerved but unhurt otherwise and planned to proceed to Youngstown and Pittsburgh for business.
John C. Belot a Fort Wayne resident and former Allen county deputy clerk has been named special deputy to collect government emergency taxes. He previously served as a field examiner for the state board of accounts.
A man held at Misha Waka in hopes he was the assailant of a Kosciusko county woman was freed. He stated he knew nothing of the matter and provided no information to investigators.
