A massive blast at a southwest Chicago warehouse caused ten deaths and many injuries. Firefighters and police reported bodies visible amid the ruins as shocks were felt across blocks and a nearby department store window shattered.
Miss Marjorie Heed of South State Street won a silver medal, competing at the Woo Cry county Institute in Nappanee. Judges included Miss Flossie Berlin of Goshen and Mrs Blosser and Jacob Nabtoone. The sessions ended today with several attendees from Goshen and nearby towns.
Gary authorities aided by Chief of Police John EO Rigney locate Miss Gladys Cook’s sister Mrs Gladys Miller of Gas South Main street. Miller rushed to Gary hospital to be with her sibling as officials determine the nature of Gladys Cook’s illness in a city in distress.
Sarah Johnson of Goshen is granted a pension of $30 per month.

The naturalist John Burroughs died early this morning on New York Central train No. 16 near Kingsville Ohio. He had been returning from Pasadena California toward West Park Ulster County New York. A physician accompanied by relatives was with him as the journey continued toward home.
Three persons, John JP Hathaway his wife and daughter from near Akron, were killed when their automobile was struck at Bear's crossing three miles north of Akron by a Winona Interurban car due here at 2250 o clock. Motorman Grant Hillard and conductor Mila Amos, both of Warsaw, are not blamed as the crossing is clear. A passenger said Hathaway turned to re cross when struck. The motorman is in a nervous state and will tell the coroner his story when he recovers.
Captain Rees an official of Dublin Castle was shot dead outside his hotel in Drurs Street by a four man party. The incident was announced in an official castle statement. Gratitude for President Harding’s support for Irish relief funds was cabled from Dublin to the White House by the Lord Mayor.
The fire department answered a false alarm call to the Hattle hotel about 7:30 last evening.
In Essen Germany 15 rioters were killed and 40 wounded in a clash with security police. The attempt to trigger a general regional strike has failed and an exceptional status has been proclaimed in Dortmund Bochum Gelsenkirchen and other points in Rhenish Prussia. Berlin reported government forces surrounding Lenna a communist stronghold forcing surrender and capturing 1000 prisoners and large weapons stocks.
Copenhagen dispatch via Exchange Telegraph cites Helsingfors advices that Minsk has fallen to revolutionaries. The eighth Bolshevik army is said to have joined the movement, which proclaims a democratic white Russian republic.
