At noon yesterday Lewis C. Landon sought George Rose at the Robertson hotel in South Bend. Rose, 55, unmarried and from Alton, left a note reading life is a burden and I can't stand it any longer. He slashed his wrists, stabbed his chest, and cut his neck with a knife and razor. A bank book and over $100 in cash were found on him. His brother Charles Rose of Chicago arranged the body’s disposition. Rose had been a razor sharpening demonstrator and had been ill at Lafayette for two weeks.
