Villa is reported fleeing across the San Miguel country after eluding American and Carranza troops. Carranza’s ambassador Alesio Arreccino protested to Secretary Lansing that ammunition sent from New York was held by customs for safety checks.
El Paso reports Villa eluded a joint American and Mexican cordon near Namiquipa with many supporters. Military officials expressed belief in the escape after the engagement. London bulletin adds a German raider sunk in the North Sea with 5 officers and 115 men captured from 800. British losses are 474.
Official admiralty release states 100 Sussex passengers landed at Dover and about 250 landed in France. The figures confirm ongoing evacuations with ships returning from the voyage.
Mrs. Noah Ganger aged 138 years died this afternoon at 1 oclock at her home one mile west of Goshen on the Elkhart road after a long illness. Survived by her husband two daughters Mrs Nathan Wogeman and Mrs Cephas Ganger and a son Isaac Ganger. Funeral arrangements to be announced Monday.
County Agent Metzger will give an orchard demonstration on spraying and pruning at the F. C. Mishler farm in Jackson township near New Paris. It will take place next Tuesday at 1 30 o’clock p m. Farmers interested are urged to attend.
W H Weybright of Syracuse sustained severe injuries after a horse kicked him in the arm. Both bones were broken and he was rushed to McDonald hospital in Warsaw where an X ray was taken.

A quiet strike situation in Elkhart was reported this afternoon after a brick was thrown at a CG G Conn auto bus near Main Street and Beardsley Avenue, breaking a window but causing no injuries. A temporary injunction barred 136 striking brass workers, four arrested on assault charges, with police and the sheriff handling the case as factories resume operation and no concessions are offered.

The Andrews Asphalt Co of Hamilton Ohio bids $57 949 08 as lowest bidder for asphalt paving in Elkhart Indiana. B F Gross of LaPorte is low bidder for brick at $60 951 89. European war cited as cause of low asphalt prices while European cities largely pave with asphalt and paving elsewhere slows.

Samuel Rinard aged 45 died in the Elkhart city building ward after years of heart disease. He had been cared for in the city building for over a week, refused admission to the county infirmary last week. Shick infant son Robert Fleming, born to Mr and Mrs Grover Shick of Elkhart at General Hospital last Wednesday, died yesterday in that city. parents and a daughter survive.

John Grabner, 90, German native and wealthy Kosciusko county businessman, died after being struck by a car driven by Keith Hawkins in Warsaw. Grabner, once a Pennsylvania Railroad engineer, had grown feeble after illness and was crossing a business district street when the incident occurred. Hawkins is deemed blameless. Funeral at Warsaw Methodist church tomorrow at 3 pm conducted by Rev. A G Neal.

Mme Genevra Johnstone-Bishop famed as America's greatest soprano and pianist Lyle Comstock will give a Character concert at the Progress Club hall South Bend on Thursday night March 30 at 8 oclock. The event is under the South Bend conservatory vocal department led by W P MacHenry and praised by the Mexican Herald for Bishop's reception in Mexico City. Club women noted.

The Haw patch eighty acres called the G. K. Poyser farm sold from Leming to Enos Hartzléer at 175 dollars per acre. No buildings on the tract are noted making the price favorable in the Ligonier Banner report. Leming also owns the Mrs. Joseph Baily farm.
